DIVERSITY STATEMENT

Concerns with diversity, equity and inclusion are central to our mission as a company. As emergency managers in the field, we have witnessed countless instances of climate injustice, racial and socioeconomic inequity, disability discrimination, gender discrimination, and discrimination towards undocumented and unhoused populations. We acknowledge that preparing for future disasters is a privilege that is out of reach of many struggling to meet basic needs. Additionally, we recognize that gender discrimination and diversity issues plague the emergency management profession as a whole. We are committed to lessening its implications for the future of ethnic and racial inequality in the U.S. and the field of emergency management in the coming decades. We encourage our clients to ponder the roles they might play in the alleviation of the vast inequities that continue to shape our world, and take equity, diversity, and inclusion into account in all of our projects.

Blue Sky Planning Partners also recognizes that we occupy the ancestral lands of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy of First Nations in Upstate NY. As an organization, we are dedicated to understanding and educating others about historical and ongoing connections between land conservation, disaster impacts, and social inequities. This acknowledgment serves as a gesture of respect to the land upon which we are located.

Emergency Preparedness is a team sport.
